South London Serenity - Interior Design Project
I was originally going to call this project South London Serendipity because it feels like a home filled with beautiful discoveries—carefully chosen pieces that come together to create a space full of character and joy. But the more I reflected on the project, the more I realised serendipity wasn't quite the right word. Serendipity suggests happy accidents, and there was nothing accidental about this kitchen.
Every decision was considered. The client had been dreaming about her kitchen for years and arrived with a clear vision of how she wanted it to feel. My role was to turn that vision into reality, balancing aspiration with budget. We gathered multiple quotes, prioritising investment in the features she simply couldn't live without, while sourcing thoughtful alternatives for finishes where a more economical choice wouldn't compromise the overall design.
Somewhere along the way, I became what we affectionately called a design doula—guiding, reassuring and offering honest advice through every stage of the journey. Renovating a home can feel overwhelming, but having someone to help navigate the hundreds of decisions along the way gives clients the confidence to make informed choices and create a home that truly reflects them.
So, instead of South London Serendipity, I chose South London Serenity. Because the calm, balanced and timeless feel of this kitchen wasn't discovered by chance—it was carefully designed, patiently refined and lovingly brought to life.
For me, that's what interior design is all about. Whether I'm helping clients realise a long-held dream or uncovering possibilities they hadn't considered, the goal is always the same: to create a home they absolutely love living in.
